7Fabs Prototype Tolerance & Appearance Disclaimer
1. Nature of the work
Unless a quote expressly states otherwise, all parts produced by 7Fabs are prototype, first-article, or low-volume fabricated goods, not mass-produced or precision-certified production parts. Processes may include FDM/SLA/SLS 3D printing, CNC machining, laser/sheet cutting, and hand-finishing.
2. Dimensional tolerance
Unless a specific tolerance is stated and agreed in writing on the quote, 7Fabs targets, but does not guarantee, the following default tolerances:
- CNC-machined features: ±0.005 in (±0.13 mm).
- FDM 3D-printed features: ±0.5% of nominal dimension or ±0.5 mm,
- SLA/SLS 3D-printed features: ±0.3% of nominal dimension or ±0.3 mm,
- Laser/sheet-cut features: ±0.010 in (±0.25 mm) plus process kerf,

Tighter tolerances must be requested and separately quoted, and may not be achievable with every process/material combination. Where the quote states a tolerance, the quote controls.
3. Appearance and surface finish
3D-printed and cut parts may show layer lines, print artifacts, support marks, minor warping, color variation between batches, and other cosmetic characteristics inherent to the process and material. Unless the quote specifies a finishing step (sanding, painting, bead-blasting, etc.), parts are delivered in as-printed/as-cut condition. Color match to a reference image or Pantone swatch is approximate unless a color-matched finishing service is separately quoted.
4. Material behavior and application suitability
Material properties (strength, flexibility, heat resistance, UV stability) vary by process and material and are provided as general guidance only, not as certified performance data, unless a specific material data sheet and application review is part of the quoted scope. The Customer is responsible for confirming that a material, process, and design are fit for the intended application, including any regulatory, safety, or load-bearing requirements. 7Fabs provides design and fabrication services only; it does not provide professional engineering services, and any application requiring engineering certification, sealed drawings, or code-compliance sign-off must be reviewed by a licensed professional engineer engaged by the Customer.
5. First article / iteration expectation
Because most 7Fabs work is prototype or first-article, minor deviations from the design intent may occur on the first unit produced. Where a project includes multiple iterations, each iteration's tolerance/appearance expectations reset based on feedback from the prior iteration.
6. Customer review responsibility
The Customer is responsible for reviewing photos, dimensions, or a physical sample provided by 7Fabs (where applicable) before approving production of additional quantities, and for flagging any nonconformance promptly per the Quote Terms & Conditions and the Payment/Refund/Cancellation Policy.
7. Relationship to other terms
This disclaimer is incorporated by reference into every quote and does not limit the remedies stated in the Quote Terms & Conditions for parts that fall outside the tolerances agreed in writing (or, absent an agreed tolerance, the defaults in Section 2).
